Hey all, Curious, had 2 people today quit on me after the 1st hole was completed. Do we no longer get a win for this early depature by our opponent? Thought we did but never paid attention to it till today. Tazz

You usually don't get a win unless they drop on the back 9. I've never been able to figure a precise algorithm because I've had them drop on 10 and 11 and not gotten the win, and I've had them drop on 8 and I got the win (I was up by a lot of strokes, so that might be part of the determination). So a drop doesn't mean that you'll get the win. But a drop before the second hole begins means that they won't get a drop counted, either. If they drop on the second hole, then they get the drop. But not on the first hole.
I found this out when I decided I didn't want to play in hurricane winds. If I found myself in such a match and dropped on the first hole, I didn't get a drop. But if the first hole had a 12 mph wind and I didn't see that good ol' 27 mph wind until the second hole and dropped then, I did get a drop.

I try not to let others know outside this league but there is an exact 'point of no return' in an online match.
If you are playing 9 holes, 3 holes is the cut-off, complete 3 holes and its on, a quit before completing 3 holes and there is no loss or no win.
If you are playing 18 Holes, 6 holes is the cut-off, complete 6 holes and its on, a quit before completing 6 holes and there is no loss or no win.
I used to have to throw shots way to often to get players beyond this point.
One other note I would like to make in regards to EA skill points, when you start a match with any number of players, you will get the points for all of the players if you can get just one of them past 'The Point Of No Return'.

Hey jokker,
This is not true. Plenty of times I have not gotten the win with your formula. Many players will agree. I am guessing that a counter is involved but I'm not sure. I've had players drop with 6 holes to go and have not received the win.

My own experience has always told me that I never got the win until my opponent has completed the 8th hole. I've had several wins while playing the 9th, but never before.

Hmmm,
I have never seen my win/loss situation do anything other than I previously mentioned. Works as my formula every time for me. Hard to say what variables are involved but I am surprised to here it is not the same for others.
