We are tweaking the playoff points format to make it a little more interesting. Below is an example.
At the end of season III, you will see the current leaderboard with the with the DGA points awarded through all 10 tournaments. Now the player with the fewest points is awarded 1st place, 2nd fewest - 2nd place and so on. This part has not changed. So to get ready for the playoffs, the field will be reset according to the 10 tournament standings. This is similar to NASCAR for those of you who watch it. This will do two things. It will make the playoffs more competitive and will entice all members to participate. The example below is only an example and in no way reflects any current standings as they will not be calculated until the tournament deadline of March 31st.
The playoffs will be seeded brackets just like last season. Points award system is changing. Here is how it will work.
If you win:
1 game - 1 point total
2 games - 3 points total
3 games - 6 points total
4 games - 10 points total
5 games - 15 points total
6 games - 21 points total
7 games - 28 points total
8 games - 36 points total
If any top seeded player gets a bye from the 1st game they will automatically be awarded 1 point to adjust for their lack of opportunity to play in an opening game.
If any players that participate in the playoffs did not complete at least 9 tournaments, those players will have 2 points per unfinished tournament deducted from their starting total once the field is reset.
The player with the most points after the playoffs will be the season III DGA Champion.
